EnergyPlus and OpenStudio feature development
Developed quantitative and qualitative modeling tools for building energy analyses.
Conduct energy saving potential and economical analyses.
Teaching assistant and guest lecturer of Building Control and Diagnostics course.
Participated in on-site POE survey.
Supported data analysis and summary drafting.
Conducted building energy simulations for high performance building code study.
Collected HVAC system and component information, created a classification map.
Lead the development of the BETTER (Building Efficiency Targeting Tool for Energy Retrofits) tool.
Developed a set of system-level key performance indicators to evaluate building energy performance at system level.
Developed a new Inverse Modeling feature in EnergyPlus. This feature combines physics-based building energy model and indoor environmental measurements to back-calculate hard-to-measure parameters.
Served as a major developer of a quantitative screening tool for filtering potential GSHP candidate sites. Developed a framework to automate data-entering, GSHP sizing and simulation, economic analysis, and report-generation via Excel VBA and GLHEPro. Conducted parametric analyses in OpenStudio to support building loads estimation. Supported in general data collection and presentation materials preparation.
Developed a data-mining framework which aims to help facility managers to classify and prioritize BAS alarms. A decision-tree model is applied to predict the durations of the alarms. Engineering equations are used to quantitative the potential thermal comfort and energy consumption impacts. The framework could filters out overwhelming and trivial BAS alarms. A paper based on the thesis is accepted by 2018 ASHRAE Winter Conference. PDF
Developed a 2-D Navier-Stokes solver for computer room air-conditioning system. The solver is developed in MatLab with finite difference approach. It can simulate airflow patterns and temperature gradients under different boundary and initial conditions.
This is my 15112 (Fundamentals of Programming and Computer Science) course term project in Fall 2015 semester. I developed a round-based game in Python with Pygame module.
